Day 25 and 26 March of 2023 the XXVII Spanish Computer Olympiad was held (Oie). A representation of the organization of the III Computer Olympiad of Castilla y León (OICyL 2023) went with the two classifieds of our regional to the OIE.
After two days of intense competition, the team of Castilla y León left the Faculty of Informatics of the Complutense University of Madrid, This year's organizer, tremendously happy because Pablo Sáez Reyes of 2nd year of Baccalaureate, student of the IES Nuñez de Arce de Valladolid was in third place, Winning Gold Medal, and his participation in the Spanish Olympic team. Pablo will participate in the 35th International Olympiad in Informatics (Ioi 2023) to be held in Hungary from 28 August to 4 September. This team will consist of the 4 first place in the National Olympiad.
Our second representative, David Blanco of the Church, of 4th of ESO of the Sacred Heart School (Jesuits) of Salamanca, being his first participation in a Computer Olympiad, He lived a great experience that will allow him to continue preparing and continue growing to give us joys in the future with all security.
As you can see by 35th IOI, XXVII OIE, The Computing Olympics have a long tradition. But only until last year did they receive the deserved recognition of being officially included as one of the Scientific Olympics convened annually by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. On the initiative of our School of Computer Engineering in Valladolid, from Castilla y León we have humbly contributed to this fact with the first OICyL in February 2021 and its celebration of the three consecutive editions that have added to other regional initiatives to achieve a total implementation of the Computer Olympiad in the national territory.
The University of Seville will host the OIE 2024. Pablo will no longer be able to compete because he will become a university student but we will surely be there with David and new talents that will appear in the next OICyL.
