Saturday 4 February was held the III Computer Olympiad of Castilla y León OICyL 2023 as a qualifying event for the Spanish Computer Olympiad.
The Spanish Computer Olympiad since last year is part of the scientific Olympics convened by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.
The Computer Olympiad of Castilla y León is held thanks to the support of the University of Valladolid, the School of Computer Engineering of Valladolid, the Professional Association of Computer Engineering of Castilla y León and CreaTICs collaborating company the Club of Young Programmers of the University of Valladolid (CJP@UVa). Nor would it be possible without the great work done by a team of teachers, Alumni, current students and administrative and service staff of our School.
Prizes were awarded to the first three classified and the Young Promise prize to the best classified under 15 years. The winners in this edition were:
- First classified: Pablo Sáez Reyes, of 2nd year of Baccalaureate of the IES Nuñuz de Arce de Valladolid
- Second place: David Blanco of the Church, of 4th year of ESO of the Sacred Heart School (Jesuits) of Salamanca.
- Third place: Yago Martin Gonzalez, of 4th of ESO of the Jesús y María school of Valladolid.
and the Young Promise award went to Pedro Pablo Lahuerta Blanco of 2nd ESO of the IES Condesa Eylo of Valladolid.
In this post we publish in images different moments of the OICyL 2023, from the previous preparation meetings, judges and participants in action during the Olympiad, current students of our School participating as observers, the awards ceremony and family photos of organizers and Olympians.
The first two classified in OICyL 2023 already have a place in the National Olympiad.
The Wednesday 1 March, of 18:00 to 21:30, The online qualifying tournament will take place to award 10 places to participate in the National Olympiad. All attendees of the regional Olympics will be able to participate, that have not already been classified, registered in these Olympics who have not been able to attend and in the case of Castilla y León, given the extent of the region, those pre-registered interested in the Olympiad who did not register because they would not be able to travel to Valladolid. The latter must contact the OICyL organization to validate their case before the qualifier organization.
The Spanish Computer Olympiad will be held on the weekend of 24 March in Madrid organized by the Complutense University of Madrid.
