In March, two international conferences took place at our School, that if it weren't for the pandemic they would have added a great academic life to our corridors:

  • 29th Euromicro International Conference on Parallel, Distributed, and Network-Based Processing (Pdp 2021)
  • V IberSPEECH2020, bringing together the EVENTS XI Conferences in Speech Technologies and the VII IBérico WORKSHOP SLTech

The situation caused by Covid19 means that, Unfortunately, all these events are being held online and are a little hidden, but not least is the work carried out by the Organizing Committee of each of them made up mostly of colleagues from our School: Diego Llanos, Arturo González, Yuri Torres, Fran Andújar and Inmaculada Santamaría, in the case of PDP, Valentin Cardeñoso, David Squire, César González, Carlos Vivaracho, Mario Corrales and Cristian Tejedor, in the case of IberSPEECH.

29th Euromicro International Conference on Parallel, Distributed, and Network-Based Processing (Pdp 2021)

Parallel processing, distributed and networked has undergone an impressive change in recent years. New architectures and applications have quickly become the center of discipline. These changes are often the result of cross-fertilization of parallel and distributed technologies with other rapidly evolving technologies. Given the importance of reviewing and evaluating these new developments compared to recent research achievements in the well-established areas of parallel and distributed computing, from industry and the scientific community, PDP 2021 provided a forum for discussion on these and other related topics through original research presentations, facilitating also the exchange of knowledge and new ideas at the highest technical level.

The PDP 2021 developed as a three-day event that included presentations of selected works, as well as three guest lectures on high-performance computing and parallelization. These master lectures were held by Clemens Grelck, University of Amsterdam, Rafael Asenjo, University of Malaga and Christoph W. Kessler, Link-ping University.

IberSPEECH2020 was held as a two-day event and brought together the best researchers and professionals from speech and language technologies in Iberian languages to promote interaction and debate. The organizing committee planned a wide variety of scientific and social activities, including presentations of technical papers, Lectures, project presentation, recent doctoral theses, discussion panels, a roundtable and awards for the best theses and works.
